Question 1

What does Maramoja Enterprises actually do?

Accepted Answer

We are a premium financial advisory firm specialising in helping businesses and governments access capital across Africa, the Gulf, and global markets. Our seven practice areas cover corporate finance, loan procurement, trade finance, investment advisory, business consulting, risk management, and government advisory. We act as your strategic partner — structuring transactions, connecting you with the right lenders and investors, and navigating the complexities of cross-border finance.

Question 2

Where are you based?

Accepted Answer

We have two offices. Our headquarters is at AICC HQ, Sekei, Arusha CBD, Tanzania — established in 2013. Our Gulf office is at The Citadel Tower, Masrai Drive, Business Bay, Dubai — opened in 2022. This dual presence allows us to seamlessly bridge African and Gulf capital markets.

Question 3

What size of business do you work with?

Accepted Answer

We work with businesses ranging from high-growth SMEs seeking their first institutional facility to large corporates and government bodies executing complex cross-border transactions. We assess each engagement individually — the quality of the opportunity and the strength of your fundamentals matter more than company size.

Question 4

How do I engage Maramoja?

Accepted Answer

The fastest route is to submit an enquiry via our Contact page or reach us by phone. We begin with a confidential discovery call to understand your situation, objectives, and financing requirements. From there, we propose a structured advisory mandate if there is a clear fit.

Question 5

What types of financing can you help us access?

Accepted Answer

We cover the full spectrum: commercial bank loans (regional and international), DFI financing (IFC, BII, Proparco, DEG, AfDB), Gulf institutional credit, trade finance facilities (LCs, SBLCs, Bank Guarantees), equity investment, mezzanine structures, and syndicated facilities. The right structure depends on your business model, sector, and growth stage — that's what our advisory process determines.

Question 6

Can you help businesses outside East Africa?

Accepted Answer

Yes. While East Africa is our home market, we actively advise businesses across the continent and internationally. Through our Dubai office, we also serve Gulf-based businesses looking to invest or operate in Africa, and African businesses seeking Gulf or European capital.

Question 7

How long does a typical financing transaction take?

Accepted Answer

Timelines vary by transaction type. A straightforward commercial loan can close in 60–90 days. DFI financing typically takes 4–9 months due to the depth of due diligence involved. Trade finance facilities can be established in 2–6 weeks once documentation is in order. We always provide a realistic timeline at the outset so you can plan accordingly.

Question 8

Do you have relationships with specific banks or investors?

Accepted Answer

Yes — this is central to our value. Over more than a decade we have built active working relationships with commercial banks across Africa and the Gulf, DFIs including IFC, BII, Proparco and DEG, and a network of institutional and family office investors active in African markets. We know who to approach, how to present your deal, and how to move it through their internal processes.

Question 9

What information do I need to provide to get started?

Accepted Answer

For an initial consultation, you need nothing more than a clear picture of your business, your objectives, and the challenge you're trying to solve. For us to begin formal advisory work, we will typically need audited financial statements (3 years where available), a company overview, details of any existing facilities, and a clear articulation of how the capital will be deployed.

Question 10

How do you charge for your services?

Accepted Answer

Our fee structure varies by mandate type. For financing advisory, we typically charge a retainer and a success fee calculated as a percentage of funds raised. For business consulting and strategy work, we charge a fixed project fee. All fees are discussed transparently and agreed in writing before any work begins.

Question 11

Do you take equity in the businesses you advise?

Accepted Answer

Generally no — we operate as an independent advisory firm, not a principal investor. Our independence is what allows us to represent your interests exclusively when approaching capital providers. In specific situations involving our investment advisory practice, we may facilitate co-investment arrangements, but this is always a separate, client-requested engagement.

Question 12

Is our information kept confidential?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. All client information is treated with the highest level of confidentiality. We sign Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) at the outset of any formal engagement, and we never share client information with third parties without explicit written consent. Our reputation is built on trust — discretion is non-negotiable.

Question 13

Which sectors do you specialise in?

Accepted Answer

We have deep transaction experience across agribusiness, infrastructure, real estate, manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, energy, and financial services. We do not limit our advisory to specific sectors — the strength of our value lies in our cross-border capital access and structuring expertise, which applies across industries.

Question 14

Can you help with government or public sector projects?

Accepted Answer

Yes — government advisory is one of our seven practice areas. We advise on public infrastructure finance, PPP structuring, sovereign debt, grant sourcing, and DFI engagement for government ministries, state-owned enterprises, and public authorities. We were appointed as official advisory partner to the Government of Zanzibar in 2025.

Question 15

I'm based in Dubai and want to invest in Africa. Can you help?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely — this is a core part of what our Dubai office was designed for. We help Gulf-based investors and businesses identify, structure, and execute investments in African markets. We provide on-the-ground insight, regulatory navigation, deal structuring, and ongoing advisory throughout your investment lifecycle.
